The Film Festival, which starts on August 31 and ends on September 10, is underway in Venice. One of the oldest events of its kind founded in 1932 and, thanks to the romantic backdrop of the floating city, it is one of the most visually striking.

As the stars make their grand arrival by water, we’re tracking every elegant and glamorous move that occurred on the Gala’s red carpet, serving up a host of historic looks.

Every year, celebrities arrive in Venice to showcase their films, but they also offer some of the best looks that emerge from the haute couture and ready-to-wear collections. This year will be no different and is already off to a stellar start, with Jodie Turner-Smith dazzling in Gucci, Julianne Moore (who also serves as the festival’s jury president) in Armani Privé design and Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio, in an unforgettable fuchsia chiffon gown at the premiere of White Noise, all among the highlights so far. Other standout looks include Timothée Chalamet’s blood red Haider Ackermann ensemble.
