Luxury fashion brand Fendi by Silvia Venturini Fendi showcased its Resort 2023 collection during New York Fashion Week, which celebrates the 25th Anniversary bash for its Baguette bag. But it wasn’t just a collection, it was a mix of styles and mediums in which different brands join forces with Fendi for the current Resort 2023 collection such as Marc Jacobs, Tiffany & Co., SJP and Porter who all innovatively reinterpreted the Baguette.

“I didn’t want to do a traditional ‘collection’ for the anniversary. Rather it’s a celebration of a time, of the moment the Baguette became famous. I relate that time to a sense of freedom in excess and fun – both qualities the Baguette possesses,” stated Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Womenswear, Fendi in a press release.

Fendi’s latest “Baguette” bag collection featured a total of 54 looks, which included parkas, gloves, hats, skirts and sweaters combining silk satin, glossy leather and sequins fabrics, perfect for the celebration. Of the 54 total looks, 10 were designed by Marc Jacobs, embodying larger-than-life silhouettes and exaggerated dimensions. From parachute train skirts, opera capes and recycled fur hats, accessories and clothing came in muted white hues paired with bright neons inspired by safety vests from New York City streets.

Inspired by the glass frontages and workman’s safety vests seen in the streets, Marc Jacobs designed a capsule collection paying tribute to the grit and glamour of New York. #MarcJacobsxFendi

“Reinventing an Icon: the #FendiBaguette appeared on the runway in New York City in varying dimensions as an emblem covering sweaters, parkas, and skirts to emphasise the classic yet modern nature of the house staple.” Posted Fendi on its Official Instagram Account.

Jacobs chimed in on Jones’ sentiment, stating: “I’ve got one word: Fendiroma. And it is one word! It is another land, this Fendiroma… And I’ve got two words: The Baguette. It’s a bag – and I am never one to shy away from an iconic bag.

Luxury jewellery brand Tiffany & Co. was in charge of reinvention of the Baguette bag in a regal format with sterling silver, enamel, Croco, white gold and diamonds. The creativity and glamorous style of Tiffany & Co. were seen in the Baguette bag, which was made entirely from sterling silver and was crafted by hand over four months. Last but not least, Japanese brand Porter proposed a more masculine perspective and lightweight turn for the Baguette in a next-gen display of utility and function.
