Everyone brought their A-game for the second major awards show of the week.
Awards season is one of the most important periods in the fashion calendar. Defining the best in film and television at a wonderful gala, the Critics Choice Awards were held January 15-16 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. At the 28th annual awards ceremony, there was a great parade of stars but also notable absences such as Colin Farrell and Jamie Lee Curtis who had to stay home after contracting covid-19.
For this season, Hollywood’s most recognizable celebrities gave designers the opportunity to showcase their latest and most stylish runway collections, setting off the latest fashion trends. The red carpet was filled with colorful silhouettes, unique and flattering cut-outs. Although it was a night of understated fashion, there were plenty of eye-catching looks including Aubrey Plaza in a Louis Vuitton gradient neckline gown, Cate Blanchett in a Max Mara button-up and matching long skirt, and the star of The Menu. Anya Taylor-Joy, who wore a sheer Dior dress with an intricate pattern.
In addition to the intricate gowns and suits that paraded down the red carpet at the ceremony, winners included Brendan Fraser, who won Best Actor for The Whale, and Cate Blanchett who took home the Best Actress award for Tár. Beloved performer Michelle Pfeiffer took the stage to present Jeff Bridges with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
