Blake Lively is turning heads on the “It Ends with Us” press tour with her Lily Bloom-inspired looks.
Blake Lively is the queen of method dressing. Period.
The multi-hyphenate, 36, has been honing this skill long before it became a trend in Hollywood. Back in 2018, she was already making waves with her commitment to tailored suits during the promo tour for “A Simple Favor”. Now, with her return to the big screen in “It Ends with Us” (out Aug. 9), Lively is back at it again, curating an entire wardrobe inspired by her character, florist Lily Bloom. The press tour, which kicked off in June at Book Bonanza, has been a floral extravaganza, with Lively paying homage to her character through her sartorial choices.
Lively plays the lead role of Lily Bloom, a character known for her eclectic style. True to form, the actress has been donning an array of floral-inspired outfits that not only reflect her character’s love for blooms but also showcase her own knack for intricate and thoughtful fashion. It’s clear that Lively, who famously styles herself, is planting Easter eggs in her outfits, a habit her husband Ryan Reynolds has lovingly called “hyper-obsessive detail addiction.”
“I tend to dress like my characters when I’m doing a movie because fashion is always the way in. I tend to dress like the character because I fall in love with whatever that is,” Lively said. And dress like Lily Bloom she has — in the most stunning and creative ways.
Blake Lively’s dedication to channelling her characters through fashion is nothing short of impressive. As she continues her “It Ends with Us” press tour, we can’t wait to see what other Lily Bloom-inspired looks she has in store. One thing’s for sure: Lively has once again proven that when it comes to method dressing, she’s in a league of her own.
Oversize Suit
For her first London photocall on Aug. 8, Lively opted for an oversized white Stella McCartney suit adorned with delicate floral embroidery. She added a playful twist by going sans shirt under the jacket, instead letting her floral underwear peek out from the waistband, blending edginess with femininity.
Lady Deadpool Meets Lily Bloom
Even when attending the “Deadpool & Wolverine” premiere in New York City, Lively didn’t stray from her theme. She rocked a Lady Deadpool Versace catsuit, but true to her Lily Bloom inspiration, the ensemble featured intricate floral embroidery. “I had a theme, I had an angle, and all the embroidery on the catsuit was flowers, so I was still honouring Lily,” Lively explained.
All-White Everything
Lively continued her London tour with an all-white ensemble, consisting of a skirt suit paired with a rosette-covered top. She completed the look with white Chanel tights and pointed-toe heels, each adorned with a flower, making a strong case for monochromatic florals. It’s a look that would surely get Blair Waldorf’s stamp of approval.
Channeling Britney Spears
While not as overtly floral as some of her other looks, Lively’s outfit for the premiere of “It Ends with Us” still had a floral edge. She donned the iconic Versace dress famously worn by Britney Spears in 2002. The dress, known for its floral detailing, was given new life by Lively on the red carpet at the New York event. Ever the fashion historian, Lively quipped that the dress belongs in the Smithsonian or the Met, but instead, it’s on her!
