The fashion show featured men parading down the runway in red carpet-ready dresses and capes.
Under the name “The Beginning of Twilight”, Elie Saab presented his new collection during Haute Couture Week Fall/Winter 2022-2023. For the first time, the designer presented menswear due to requests from his loyal followers. Full of drama and sophistication in each of the elements, as if it were a sunset, he fused red and orange colors for the men’s garments as opposed to pink tones for the more feminine ones.
The collection also brought ethereal tones and shades, curved lines and opulent textures inspired by the twilight.
Like the vibrant movement of dusk, ELIE SAAB Haute Couture Fall Winter 2022-23 awakens an enchanted moment of possibility where fantasies and mystery can manifest. For the energetic woman and the modern young man, a novelty at the Maison, each imperial piece is a distinct impression of a disappearing sun.
There was also a spectrum of feathers that danced with tapestries of black velvet, and stroke into bodices that alternated between opacity and transparency. Lace tresses rushed across overstated collars and exaggerated necklines, while beaded fringed swishes and swayed down sleeves, captivating the gaze with glistening movement.
“Large, floor-length layers of satin, with majestic lines at the shoulders, exhibit masculine dominance in layers of multicolored plumage. Gemstones and beads cling to the skin like slippery stardust and are given definition and shape from gauzy cutouts in contour. Large braids of gold beads snake around colored stones, transforming into neck ornament necklaces and sculpted waists of simple off-white mermaid gowns. The indefinable bride shimmers, herself a vision shimmering in a tantalizing spectrum of pastel colors. Wrapped in a veil of crystals, she gives way to a hypnotic evening full of wild intrigue.” – by Elie Saab.
The designer showed off his masculine looks quickly in the heels of the wide-skirted dress that opened the runway show. The first male model entered with a wide cape adorned with long red and black feathers that curled at the ends, arranged in a stark zigzag pattern.
Infinite embroidery of rhinestones, full of glitter and reflections that dazzled with their passage down the catwalk. Transparencies, elegance and the most feminine garments seen so far. Sequins in all possible dimensions covering all creations, bangs, dripping crystals, mosaics of feathers and large volumes that wrapped the models in rose petals. As always, Elie Saab surpasses himself and never ceases to surprise, even following the same patterns.
